Week 3:

The article I chose to write about is from Purdue University student written paper The Exponent. This article was titled “Judge issues no contact order for former student charged with domestic battery.” This article instantly stood out to me because I wanted to read more on what the former student did. The former Purdue student was barred from contacting his girlfriend who he is accused of battering her. Judge Mathew Sandy approved the no contact order between 19-year-old Riley Reese, who is charged with domestic battery and criminal confinement. Reese won’t be able to contact the victim or an alleged witness by any means, such as by phone or social media. This article’s headline stood out to me because I was able to read more into the story and agree with everything the judge of the case had to say before this case went to trial.

Week 8:

The article I chose to write about is from Purdue University student written paper The Exponent. This article was titled “A Win For All.” This article is about Purdue’s men’s basketball team as they knock on the door of a national championship. Purdue was able to get their first victory and punch a ticket to the final four teams of the march madness tournament in decades by beating Tennessee. The article has the title because the school has not had a national championship in basketball since 1932. If Purdue ends up winning the national championship it will bring more enrollment to the university.

Week 9:

The article I chose to write about is from Purdue University student written paper The Exponent. This article was titled “Madness in the streets”. This article is about the Purdue University fans partying in the streets of campus after the Boilermaker’s basketball team earned their way to a national championship game. Purdue faced off against North Carolina State’s mens basketball team Saturday evening April 6th. The students of Purdue University showed their support for the team by gathering in the streets of campus causing campus police to have roads closed and more protection on duty. One fan stated “This experience is crazy and we going to win a natty this year”. Natty is short for national title. Students attending this University are excited for Monday nights game which is the national championship against The University of Connecticut. Campus police have already called in support from the state police to help with crowd management in the result of a win or a loss on Monday night.
